Narrative Explanation:
The West Roxbury YMCA project required the replacement of the existing, well-utilized facility with a state of the art modernized facility to serve the local West Roxbury community. The client 's goal was to provide a full service facility that enabled the YMCA member to engage with their neighbors and enjoy their creative space. To accomplish this required Alexandra Construction, Inc to not only demolish an existing. 10,000 SF, stand alone, YMCA building in a congested urban location that was adjacent to active railroad tracks but also protect sidewalks, highly travels roads and buildings throughout the project. Phasing was required in order to allow the members to continue to utilize a portion of the property at all times throughout construction. The result is 61,00 square feet of mulitstory fitness and activity center.
